The remaining sections of this chapter explore each stage of the cycle and include suggested questions that supervisors may find helpful at each stage. There is inevitable overlap between the stages, and the idea is not to promote yet another rigid framework for conducting assessments, but rather to assist in developing a style of supervision that takes account of the uniqueness and complexity of each situation and enables the social worker to proceed in a way that meets service users’ need, operating effectively at the interface of family and professional relationships and organisational expectations.
